Accessing micro sd raw nand flash
« on: July 16, 2016, 07:31:41 pm »
I've been playing about with a micro sd card and trying to access the raw nand flash, not for any particular reason! (as in I don't care if I destroy it)
Unfortunately the controller seems to be fighting me, and I can't seem to get it right. With the SD pins connected to a card reader, the nand becomes "half accessible" and occasionally will accept a command etc. but not reliably.
With the SD pins unconnected, I get nothing at all.

I know my soldering is fine (poor quality photo attached!), because hooking a logic analyser up to it with the card connected to a USB reader and it shows the commands properly (see attachment of LA output).

Can anyone advise me about what I've missed, or what the trick is to initializing the nand flash but not the controller?

I would say you could try to force the controller into sleep mode via the SDIO communication and then attempt to read,
