IS there a way to invert the forum or turn to black background?
« on: September 03, 2018, 03:54:43 pm »
I found in windows you can invert the colors and webpages and other things that were totally unusable due to glare can be seen!

But when it inverts this forum it leaves gray squares around the buttons and other artifacts hiding some buttons. I found the forum button by remembering where to click on the page. Is there an accessibility feature? I might have been on the page but it may have been blacked out like the forum button.

Since finding the invert feature its like a whole new easy to use computer and I can now use my SDR stuff that I gave up in frustration trying to see the screen and trouble shoot. Really hard to find a problem when it is invisible.

You can write a user stylesheet to change things to your liking. Most browsers will have such a function.

There is also a Chrome Extension called "Stylebot" which is supposed to allow you to change the style of websites also, and that may help change things as well. However, keep in mind that if icons and button graphics do not feature "TRANSPARENT" edges or backgrounds, then they will still be visible in whatever color they are. I don't know whether all the graphics on this site have transparency or made to match the current default background.

If you are willing to use tapatalk. That you can easily put in night mode (dark bf/ white text).

The glare is in my eyes. Its like trying to read a lic plate while blue HID lights are on at night. The light colors smear around the text and make buttons disappear into the light blue back ground color.

This is what the textcomesup as before I fix it using thetouch screen quickly:
This is better but blck text on blackisannoying unless you remember it is there.

Iuse Edge because I likeits spell check and only use edge for this forum since I care about you guys seeingwell typedposts.

So a few pokes to the screen and the text is legible. Firefox needs the touch pad which is slow and has glare so half the time I pick the wrong word.

@Beamin,

I do black backgrounds and several of the suggestions mentioned above with my cell phone, tablet and computer display.

I noticed similar issues about 20 years ago as I was doing lots of work on computers and reading boxes of proposals and stuff.
The blue haze got worse with time as well as smeared images. Driving at night got more difficult particularly with HID lights, as you noticed.
Blue light being a shorter wavelength will scatter more on the way to your retina via the aqueous gel in your eye and the cornea.

Ended up with several operations to the eyes and retina over the years.
Don't know your background, but if this is beginning to bother you, it might well be worth a quick visit to the ophthalmologist just to check.
