Is this chip balled ?
(1/1)
chinoy:
On my way to doing my first chip level repair.
The Chip in question is the Max98512B.

Picture attached.
My question is this new chip balled or do I need to ball it.
I do not have a stencil for it.
This is an insanely small chip 36 contacts little bigger than a pin head lol.

Any tips to a first timer without a stencil ?.
flolic:
That chip is balled.
I reball those under the microscope by hand, using thin, sharp needle to transfer balls.
chinoy:
Do you repair phones.
I have a doubt how do I know which chip to replace first this one or the
Audio IC CS47L93
Symptom is both speakers are dead. Both Mic are dead. And ear phone jack is dead.
But blue tooth audio works. For Music and games and videos but not for calls.
Samsung Note 9.
So do I need to build up balls in the socket or just clean up the socket put in the new chip and heat ?.
280c ok ?.
flolic:
I can't help you diagnosing problem with Note 9.

Remove old chip and clean pads on the PCB with solder wick.
Apply flux, put new chip and heat with hot air. 280C is to low, I am using 360C. But that vary from case to case.
