ISO datsheet for Old Motorola IC
« on: October 19, 2022, 04:04:44 pm »
I'm currently seeking a data sheet for a very old IC made by Motorola.

It's an 8152 chip p/n C010444D-05, the application is a TIA (Television Interface Adapter) for an Atari 2600A (4-switch with wood panel).

It would have been produced somewhere between the late 1970's and mid 1980's.

Attached is an image of the chip.

8152 is the date code (52nd week of 1981).

You’re not going to find a regular datasheet for it because it’s a custom Atari part. Motorola happens to have manufactured it for them, but the design was Atari’s, and they were manufactured by numerous chip makers.

That chip, the TIA, is the “secret sauce” that makes a 2600 what it is.

See https://www.ataricompendium.com/faq/vcs_tia/vcs_tia.html

However, I did find this: https://archive.org/details/Atari_2600_TIA_Technical_Manual
