I've actually changed to 'Bing' !!
« on: July 13, 2021, 01:22:40 pm »
I've virtually only ever used Google, since abandoning the likes of 'AltaVista' many years ago!!
I know there are non-tracking search sites like 'DuckDuckGo', that I've played with at times, and that's ok...
However, lately, I've been giving Microsoft's 'Bing' ago, though never desiring to previously!!... And I  like it!   :)

I don't really care about all that 'tracking' crap anyway, and I really like the way the results are presented in Bing
for all my Graphics/Photos/Videos that I search for!  Even the Videos can 'Play' within the Bing page, without having
to jump to the source site!  And manipulation of images is handled beautifully too... Am sure many are against it though!   :phew:
Diagonal of 1x1 square = Root-2. Ok.
Diagonal of 1x1x1 cube = Root-3 !!!  Beautiful !!

Must admit i prefer bings maps to google as it allows you to use the "proper" colours for road type,at least in the uk.  googles roads are yellow or white and you need to zoom in to the actual road number to find the road type. Bing uses the  good ole os colours,so if its blue its a motorway, green trunk road etc

Yep, Google maps is a UX disaster. What I strongly dislike about Bing (and MS) is that MS changes the default search setting in web browsers to Bing from time to time while installing Windows updates. This causes a strong allergic reaction on my side. ;D

Keep in mind you will get different search results. Google is unique in it's results, for better or for worse (depends on what you search). But Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo all give the same results as each other.

Changing from Google to Bing looks pretty odd to me.
Google was also my go to search engine for many years - I also remember Altavista...
But a couple years ago, I started to try decreasing my relying on Google tools. So, I now use alternative search engines for most searches. I occasionally use Google though - when others don't yield satisfying results. I'm just using it a lot less. Beyond not willing Google to track my every move, I started getting pretty annoyed by Google's results being much too dependant on whoever searches. Most of the time, I want "neutral" results. Not results that are supposedly tailored for me using algorithms that decide for you what you are interested in.

Never been impressed by Bing. I don't use search engines much for images and videos though, so maybe it's good at this.

My motto now is: don't use a single tool. Diversify!

I noticed Bing is much better for electronics searches, datasheets etc. The results are either presented a lot better or they are just more accurate.
