Suspicious Ebay scope options
« on: January 25, 2016, 09:05:55 pm »
This Ebay auction for an MSO6104A scope prominently touts the value of all the enabled options.  The asterisks suggest the options were enabled via a service mode hack.  If that's so, someone could potentially be unpleasantly surprised if they are expecting licenses for those options.

It should be noted that Keysight does offer an "ultimate scope" option package for this class of scope, so it's not unreasonable to expect that what was done here.

Perhaps it's possible this is a legitimate demo scope with some kind of a demo mode enabled.  Has anyone had any  experience with this seller (brannonsb)?

Why do you think he used hack? I think last year I have seen a deal for InfiniVision 2000 scopes - $1500 to get all options enabled. Maybe there was similar deal available for this scope as well? Some sellers like to set price at $20K and then drop it down to $3000 week later so it looks like a "super deal" :)
