Start in summer and growing little pixel by pixel since then
Interesting how it is not from edge and have no visible damage

Have you tried rebooting your computer and DSL modem? 

On serious note it is interesting how it's all together.  There must be a defect in that general part of the LCD panel.  Maybe something putting lot of pressure on it.

It is my old beaten Lenovo W520, carry it around house and garden, use for car diagnostics and sometimes get some hit
Pretty durable for misuse it get
