Kind of a joke
« on: February 05, 2014, 01:39:37 am »
Ok, guys, with all the knowledge here...  Let me see how long it takes for someone to post the right answer:

USA has 50 states.  In which state is the worst to watch a movie?  And Why?

If someone answers right, I will confirm right the way.  If not, I will disclose the answer in 24 hours or so.

Rick

tick tock tick tock tick tock....

The US doesn't have 50 states.
Yes it does !
"The United States of America, commonly referred to as the United States, America, or simply the States, is a federal republic consisting of 50 states and a federal district. Wikipedia"

Neither The District of Columbia, nor Canada , is the 51st state :)

To answer the question.. I guess it would be pretty bad to watch a movie in the state of sleep.

Sorry Guys, it has been 24 hours and no one got it, so here is the answer.

It is Texas.

You will have a hard time finding a 2-star movie let alone a 5-star movie in the "Lone Star State"...

I would have said "comatose". The initial fact has nothing to do with the subsequent question.

Stars?  For movies?  We use metric here, sonny.  Movie quality is measured in centitomatoes.

Srsly though, there's a topic that was made for this joke.

Perhaps you are not aware, "Lone Star State" is the nick name or state slogan for Texas.  Every state has one and most print it on their car license plates.  If you are from Missouri, I would show you.  (Missouri is the "show me" state).

So, the text on the original post and "movie" is kind of disjointed.  In the USA where movies are rated by how many stars, and many USA folks would be away of state nick names, they may make the connection.

Of course, we all make fun of those nick names: For example, Minnesota is the "Land of 10,000 Lakes (... and one fish)".

They are? That's news to me.

Ah huh!  You are trying to pull my legs, you know I mean rating of "How good is it?" rather than is it suitable for what age.

I think it's just as much marks out of ten, from 1/10 (bad) to 10/10 (good). Maybe it just depends on which reviews you read...

Can we get a gun to the head emoticon? I think that's appropriate here.  |O

At one time Western Australia had the following odd message on its licence plates:-"Relax in a State of excitement".

Victoria (Australia) had "On the Move" on their plates some years ago.  I seem to recall their premier was under scrutiny at the time and some funny wag suggested that "On The Take" was more appropriate!   :D

Was "On the Move" before or after "The Place to Be"? i can't remember...

South Australia (a large wine producing stste)  had a competition re number plate logo,  I thought "Relax in a drunken state"  was a winner!
Whoah! Watch where that landed we might need it later.
