Lab decoration
« on: October 23, 2020, 09:52:25 am »
Hi,

we are in a situation that we moved our electronics lab in a much much bigger room with large empty white walls. Now we are wondering what might be a nice and appropriate wall decoration. I was already looking for nice posters and found this one which is already quite nice:
https://secure.flickr.com/photos/llnl/9403051123/

But I know there are many more out there. Maybe a portrait of Bob Pease?, I think not. I know that Jim Williams created awesome art, but I dont find higher resolution neither posters. Are there any famous lab notes out there? Or beautiful illustrations?

What do you think? Do you have any ideas?

Or you could find a street artist you like, and invite him in for some custom spray-can work.

I don't see the issue here, seems like a genuine question.

I'd totally do that if I had such a space.

Cover a wall in grips, because one day you might find yourself climbing up it.

PCB wall?
Either with actual PCBs or paint the wall so it looks something like a PCB layout.

Put your shelves up first and then think about it for a few years and let us know if there is any visible wall space left.

Here is a somewhat cleaned up version of this:

If you are looking for posters you definitely need the infamous National Semiconductor poster from Bob...

We did this on several large (otherwise empty) walls:

I've got four plain white wardrobe doors right next to my bed, and have considered getting some wallpaper photo stickers (whatchamacallits?) to cover them with a photo of my own; something along the lines of this photo of lake Plitvice, or perhaps this or this closer to home (but those are not mine; just examples off the net).  Futuristic space images are nice, but I think the attraction wouldn't last too long.  That's also why I'd prefer sticker type instead of anything permanent.

Have any of you used the wallpaper printing services to bring some "space" to your cubbyholes?

I'd use some of the wall space to hang sound dumpers.
