A compliment can be different, because there's no air of criticism or implication that you think that's important, you're just noticing it. When you say you don't like it, it comes across like you feel owed a more 'professional' look, whether or not that's what you actually intended.

Like and don't like are symmetrical opinions. If one is allowed so should the other.
c4757p:
It's not about what you're allowed to do, it's about coming across like a prick or not. Yes, you're free to state both opinions. No, both don't give people an equal impression of you.

That's what you wanted, and hence I think your view of it is skewed because of that.
We invited him be a guest on the "free-for-all" show just like we invite everyone else. Sure we wanted to hear his stories, but it's not like it was ever intended to be a formal interview about his life story.
We actually tell every guess right before hitting record that it's a "free-for-all", like what you'd get if you were sitting in the pub chatting to the person, that's how we approach the show. We never see ourselves as interviewers.
--- Quote ---The interruptions break the flow of the story. Not as extreme as the Horowitz case but unnecessary nevertheless. Chris is more considerate in this respect.

Wrong. Chris (I believe publicly) publicly said before the show that he'd probably sit back on this one because he has little knowledge of (or really interest in) old computers. It was a topic that I had much more personal interest in and knowledge of.
You'll see this same pattern time and time again where either of us will break in more depending upon our enthusiasm or curiosity for whatever is being said at particular time.
In many shows Chris has done a lot more interrupting than I have.
But I suspect it will be impossible to convince you of this point of view.
I'm not saying I don't interrupt (a lot?), but that's my style, and it's a deliberate nature of the show.

Would you react the same to a " I liked the color of her hair? "
--- End quote ---
I liked her Transistor Man T-Shirt!
