Have you tried approaching the manufacturer directly? Maybe this one would help… https://www.teknis.co.uk/topic/antistaticproducts?gclid=CjwKCAjw8JKbBhBYEiwAs3sxNx_brKF1ysdBA0MHloOz1VhwOI94QnDmoPZE70liyevMed8XQWrXSxoC-F8QAvD_BwE |

Thanks though. --- End quote --- IMHO the time spent trawling and asking would be more of a loss than £12. You could spend weeks looking and not find one. Time is irreplaceable, there’s always more money. The way I work is like this: The cost of something is irrelevant; I take the cost into account when deciding: # I need it therefore I’m buying it. # I don’t need it, therefore I’m not buying it. To me, the debate over cost is irrelevant if I need (or sometimes want) something. It may sound overly simplistic, but to me, I find some people over-complicate aspects of life. Btw I’m in no way rich, nor even have an income right now. I simply use this method to be pragmatic and skip the agonising/debating part. Maybe you could do a deal with them and tell them you’d write a short review piece here if they waive shipping :) - I’ve got plenty of free products when I’ve done reviews. |

And, there is an even cheaper option, just the mat without the AS accessories, which I don't need. Will be ordering that, so many thanks :-+ Thanks to all for your input, very grateful ;) --- End quote --- Now i have to ask: Is it the heat resistance why you wanted a silicone mat? In my experience, most anti static mats are at least somewhat heat resistant. Mine will will not melt when i touch it with the iron, but holding it down longer causes a small dent and light discoloration. I have never worked with a silicone mat, so i don't know if they have better resistance. A cutting mat i also have does melt easily though. I one accidentally had it as a mat when throughole soldering a line of resistors. The mat hat a couple of dimples afterwards where the resistor bodies got too hot :-[ EDIT: Corrected, thank you. I was not aware that there really are PVC anti static mats. I have no idea what mine is made out of, but it was not very expensive. |
