Not sure what this is ???
« on: January 04, 2013, 12:35:34 am »
I picked this up and I am not sure what it is beside the simply fact that it's a 15" monitor mounted in a full metal case... The thing turns on and seems to work but I found I have to sell it  and not even sure what's it worth...

Looks like a standard LCD Monitor, Probably not worth much nowadays. By the case, and the rubber membrane switches, I'm guessing this might have been out of maybe something commercial, Like a Point of sale system, Something along them lines ?

Purely a guess.

  • Why shouldn't we question everything?
    • It's not really a Blog

Well why don't you then?
You also forgot to set your profile to say which country and city you are in. Which is kind of an important issue, for anyone considering buying a garden variety smallish LCD monitor, in unknown working state, that's worth very little but would cost a fortune to ship internationally. You're really only going to be able to sell that to someone who's able to easily come and pick it up in person.

Incidentally, I'm looking for a cheap VESA mountable LCD monitor/TV, about 50cm/20" diagonal, BUT must have at least one composite PAL video input as well as the usual VGA/DVI (and maybe HDMI.)  In South Sydney area.

As was said above it looks like a point of sale monitor they would use, however now days most of those are touch screen, which I couldn't tell from looking at the picture, but I don't think it is.  With the connectors inside the case I doubt it was for personal use.  I'm going to assume from it being in a metal case vs. plastic case and the connectors inside it might have been used as a display to showcase a new product inside a store.

It's common to see monitors like this in a manufacturing environment.
