LED drawer storage system

I don't understand where do all the RGBW LEDs go. >:D
I've use exactly the same, like the one on the right with the other resistor values just scribbled on. I use the spare bit of foam near the handle to poke resistors into when I can't be bothered putting them back in the tubes. :-/O

I think it's a neat idea, but I'd want it to be more expandable. I always thought it would be cool to setup a drawer system with some kind of backplane, each drawer has a bunch of dip switches you code so each one is unique and it plugs into the backplane when the drawer is pushed all the way. Each drawer system also has it's own dip switches. Everything is then interconnected together as one big system. You inventory all the parts into each drawer and when you want something it would tell you where it is.
But really it's probably easier to just label everything so you can find stuff without first looking it up on the computer. I do want to come up with a modular system myself at some point and just mass build them. The issue with the ones you buy is you can never get the same ones again down the line. If I build it myself they will all be consistent and I would keep the plans/jigs to build more later. What I have in mind is some kind of drawer system with a bunch of smaller boxes inside. 5x5cm 5x10, 10x10, etc could be common sizes and you can mix and match and move them around at will.
I really want to insulate my garage and convert to a shop, other projects just keep taking precedence but once I do that, I will make that box system one of my first wood working projects. I want to build jigs and stuff so I can churn these out like crazy. Organize everything in them.

The system has some benefits, the bigger of all the no necesity to order resistors by value, you can store them in the next free spot and simply tell to the manager.

You can always 3d print them, for example something like this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4160638 or something like this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3125601. Easy to make, easy to modify, and customisable.

Yeah I've seen that done too actually. Would need to figure out what ends up being more expensive, wood, or 3D printing. I do eventually want to get into 3D printing. I just can't find any CAD programs that are actually decent to use in Linux, they're all super clunky and cubbersome and user unfriendly. I just want to be able to easily click, type a dimension and snap lines and do other operations quickly and easily. Drag, copy, move etc... all the cad programs in Linux make all these basic operations super cubbersome. Was looking at Freecad and it's insane the amount of steps you need to do simple tasks. I'll probably eventually just write my own.
