Let play a game
« on: May 16, 2010, 05:33:22 pm »
Hi everyone,

The rules are very simple, someone show a device and we need to find what is use for. The first one the give the right answer will have to show the next device. If you don't have one, just say it and someone will be glad to show one. You can give as much clue as you want.

I will start with my one little device:

Sorry again for my bad english

I would add to the rules that you need to say how you got there.

I think that those black funny things are rotation/speed sensors (ate name on it).
Then you have a nice microswitch on the pcb, I would say to be used for sensing an "end" and the button switch to activate something...

Then all going to µcontroller I guess.

Some electric window system?

edit: by the way, for some real hard core EE guessing see http://www.bunniestudios.com/ "name that ware" (and the rest of the blog is good reading to...)

Real Circuit design time in minutes= (2 + Nscopes) Testim + (40 +120 Kbrewski) Nfriends

Testim = estimated time in minutes Nscopes= number of oscilloscopes present Kbrewski = linear approx of the nonlinear beer effect Nfriends = number of circuit design friends present

Is it a neumatic silencer? Like the ones used to release air but quietly.

To me they look like a control system for a machine. the 3 boards look like end of track sensors and controllers as they have a microswitch each.

If this game takes off i suggest Dave makes a seperate category for it and we put a game in each thread, I have a neat thing to show, the oldies here will recognize it immediately but anyone under 40 will not  ;D

If your secret board has vacuum bulbs (those things that were replaced with transistors) I'd bet it's a tv or a radio.  :D

Is that brand new? The rails look clean, no gunk buildup, and it's got clean grease.
Everyone I knew either never cleaned their mouse, or wiped the grease off with the gunk.
If you maintained that yourself, extra points. :D

Here's one from my blog :)

There's a couple of IC's that don't have a datasheet online. I don't have printed datasheets so I can't do anything about them  ;D

Here's a better photo in case someone couldn't see the IC part numbers:

I'd say it's a KITT led driver...  ;D

It looks like a 3-port serial IO expander from the early 80s, most likely for an early 80s computer.

Hehe! Great guess, but sadly it's a bit off. Very creative thinking there!

Getting very warm! The only other clue I'm giving right now is that it's a UK made product...
