--- Quote from: EEVblog on June 28, 2020, 02:45:11 pm ---c) Only a very small percentage (5% would be enormous) of regular subscribers/viewers actually "take action" and go to the effort to donate etc. So again Premium is the "lazy person's" way to support. --- End quote --- So it looks like one big problem is the lack of apparent value in supporting creators. Hence why I like the token system idea for offering additional rewards for those who support creators. I seed a bunch of (legal) torrents to give back to the community, but I would like it better if I could install an addon that prioritizes uploading to those who support the content I enjoy. And those torrents could include the content the supported creators make. |

Then you can all single-handedly raise the quality of tech content on YT. Just make sure to TURN OFF any sort of advertising for any of your videos in, say, 2 years when you get to enough subscribers to be able to enable monetization. --- End quote --- It is almost as if you can't imagine any other way of supporting content creators than ruining the user experience by forcing irrelevant advertising down their throats? |

How much does youtube premium red or whatever it's called actually give to creators? I did sign up once but I was hoping for more access also to films rather than just youtubes own. I mean netflix is only £5.99 a month and youtube want twice that. |

This is a grossly faulty assumption. Many tech and other content creators just want to share their knowledge and experience, some want a bit of recognition or fame, other reasons too. Invasive dilution of their videos with ads may hurt them as much as it annoys their viewers. |
