Lithium Ion Batt. Storage
BILLPOD:
Good Morning All,
For several years I've been harvesting the 18650 Li-ion cells out of laptop batteries. I've weeded out the bad ones and charged up the good ones. I've accumulated around 20 and am arranging them in a cardboard box. I know there must be a better way, so does anyone have a good system that works for them?
I've looked online and see some small plastic boxes for this use, but nothing that can hold upwards of 20. :-/O

It’s not hard to find ones that hold 10 cells. They cost peanuts on Ali: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000943546576.html

Last year I found some nice small clear storage containers at Walmart which holds about 28 cells in a stack of 5 layers. It might be the kind of product, though, that's only available for one season -- i.e. some sort of special buy. I would just check your local Walmart/Target/Staples to see what they got.
As the number of cells increases, what you use for storage will also change, e.g.:

I'd just appropriate a food storage container from the kitchen/store. If you later get more than it'll hold, get another container the same size. They'll stack.

Same here I have about 1kWh worth of 18650's stored in various plastic boxes then maybe another 2kWh that need testing.
The next worry is the damage they could cause, I'm considering making a large sandbox to bury all the little plastic boxes in.
