Lithium Ion battery recycling (including EVs)
« on: August 16, 2023, 05:59:30 pm »
This is really quite an interesting video and addresses some concerns about lithium ion battery sustainability, especially in electric vehicles.

I'd be curious as to how much virgin material is expected to be required if processes like these are used.

Would be interesting to know how much they can actually recover from that black gunk - that video didn't really show much more than a big grinder.

I wonder if the occasional NiCd or lead-acid (some walkmans used small lead-acid, also camping lights etc,.) screws things up with contamination.

AIUI the biggest problem at the moment with EV battery recycling is getting batteries to recycle, as they're lasting a long time, and then getting repurposed.

Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs
