LM337 Current Boost

As you know, there is no 5A version of LM337.

Is it possible to increase the current using a pass transistor while the LM337 works as a current limiter?

I've never seen such an implementation in the datasheets.

Just do the same, but with an NPN transistor.

Examples are not as common, but they do exist as shown below from 1980.
