Long, long, ago

in a galaxy far, far away,
and populated by the likes (oops, nearly typed 'lies') of Practical Electronics and Elektor

there was a timing device that was used when the 555 couldn't go slow enough.
It was an oscillator and a multistage counter and a bit of logic. And it wasn't a CD 4060 though it was a bit like that.

Does anyone remember what it was called ? Could have been a Ferranti part (Z something. maybe.)

TMS1000?
Isn't that a mask-programmed microcontroller?

Yeah, it was ZN1034, thanks. The others could be useful too.

Apart from MC14541, the others are obsolete.

Yeah. I was reaching a little, thinking that even as primitive as it was, it could probably be programmed to output square waves or pulses with a comparatively long period. The fact that it was mask programmable would make it a challenge to actually use.
