Hi all!
All of my equipment is taking over my computer desk, and so I'm looking to purchase a workbench for all my stuff, and I was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations (from IKEA, amazon, whatever). I would just build one out of extra lumber, but since it's going up in the office it has to "match" and "look nice" etc according to the girlfriend.
Any reccomendations for part storage (hanging bins, cabinets, etc.) would also be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

Thank you, that's very helpful! Can't believe I missed it :palm:

Thankfully, I have dedicated office space so SWMBO has no say out here. Everything I have built is for function over form. You can still build, just add the extra steps of sanding, staining and varnishing and pick better grades of lumber. At the end of it, you will have something custom to your needs instead of adapting something to get you 98% there, that last 2% will annoy the crap out of you.

I found an IKEA Jerker with an extra shelf on Craigslist, and I found a Jerker flat desk at Habitat for Humanity.
I slapped a Home Depot particle board sheet on the flat desk to absorb impacts, should last quite a while, and both desks survive multiple disassembly cycles.

I simply went to Ikea and bought a couple of sets of drawers (one for either side of the work surface) and placed a 2200mm length of oiled solid timber bench top straight on the top. The only thing "holding" it in place are some silicone stick-on anti-slip feet.
It looks really nice: https://www.bunnings.com.au/interbuild-2200-x-600-x-26mm-acacia-solid-oiled-hardwood-project-panel_p8330032 (https://www.bunnings.com.au/interbuild-2200-x-600-x-26mm-acacia-solid-oiled-hardwood-project-panel_p8330032)

I went for a solid oak counter top from ikea, remarkably impact resistant :-//
