I was watching an episode of Midsomer Murders recently (Murder on St. Malley's Day, Series 5 Episode 5, 2002), and a photo caught my eye because it reminded me of the EEVblog logo.
Does anyone know what it is? I assume the similarity is a coincidence, or is there some cultural reference I don't get (being from the U.S.)?

Meh, just the typical "no photos!" gesture where the to-be-photo-subject reaches out to cover/force away the camera lens with their hand but only manages halfway before the actual photo is taken. Nothing to see here, you're reading too much into it.

Yes. Quite a common "pose" from people who don't want their picture taken. It just looks like the "Dave hand" image - but I don't believe Dave was indicating "don't take my picture". His looks more like "DON'T do that!!!"

Just a coincidence, but amusing nonetheless. :)

It always looked a staged photo to me. There is something unnatural in the pose.

I think if you could see a video showing the situation when it was taken, it would be less of a mystery.
