Lost Replies

This has twice happened to me now with this forum.

You spend time crafting a reply, in the meantime someone else sends a reply.
You get a warning to perhaps re-consider your reply, you choose nah, and POOF your efforts disappear into a cloud of pixie bits, and don't even make the bit bucket.

Damn friggin annoying. >:(

Just press the back button when you see that message and it should take you back to the page containing your reply.

Alternatively, copy the text to the clipboard before posting, that way you can paste it back in to your post if this happens.

Yeah, all good in hindsight once you know, but the page presented has the option "do you want to post anyway" or some such.

It's only when you later open that topic and think, hey didn't I post something in this thread  ???

I always hightlight and hit CTRL-C before I post anything anywhere, not just this forum.
Can't say I've has this problem with this forum though, anyone else?

I haven't seen this either, just the occasional time out, but the back button works fine in that case. I believe the behavior of the back button and remembering the contents of forms might depend on the browser, so if you're returned to an empty form after you press the back button, you could try a different browser. I also use the crtl+C trick if I've spend a significant amount of time or expect trouble. But I do feel RayJones's frustration when something like that happens, especially if it was a long post.

On a slightly related note, I do occasionally notice a warning about the title being more than 80 characters in a reply (guess the original was 77-80, plus the four characters for 'Re: '). It seems to post it anyway (not sure what the point of the warning is), but it looks stupid. Like anyone even reads the title of replies, it could just truncate it for all I care.
