From my own experience scientology is an extraordinarily stinking pile of crap you don't want to stir unless you have to.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Rossmann is forgetting the E-meter ".. in the hands of a trained operator, the meter can indicate whether a person has been relieved from the spiritual impediment of past experiences."

It's a skin resistance galvanometer but it's use is in a "clearing session" where a person confesses all their transgressions. The session is recorded and guess who now has some blackmail leverage? This locks a person into Scientology for life unless you are pretty boring.

So a DCMA clause to protect pseudoscience devices, Xenu the alien? Prepare your butthole the aliens are coming to visit...

I wonder if Isaac Asimov ever paid L. Ron Hubbard his dollar? Scientology sounds like a SciFi story that's come to life.
It's not surprising: If you've ever discussed warp drive with a Trekkie, it is easy to see how a religion such as Scientology could be created by a SciFi author.

It actually is. But wrapped in a religion... book didn't sell so creating a religion was the best next thing to make/extort a crapload of money.

And the religion is wrapped in a legion of lawyers.

Idunno, back in the day 4chan found them a lulzy pile of crap worth stirring for lulz ;)

Hubbard himself said that founding a religion is the surest way to make crapload of money off of losers.
He may have been sarcastic, but then he thought about it some more, shut up and got his ass in gear.

The E-meter as a device is a bridge between the spirit world and ordinary reality. Such things are important
An untrained operator could cause a disturbance in the space-time continuum. Imagine a bungled repair job on one.
Last time it was the Stay Puft marshmallow man and Gozer the Gozerian that entered this world. They are probably behind cancelling Rossmann's Amazon account. Just terrible.

I admire the panel design, especially the moving-panel meter, which adds artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Yes, and quite a few others have done the same.

Hubbard's genius though was to create a religion based on some pseudo-science, which could look "scientific" enough to fit perfectly well within most modern political regimes.

Several decades ago, an acquaintance brought me one of those units because it wasn’t working.
As others have mentioned, the outside looked futuristic and well made.

Inside however, was a completely different story. It was an absolutely unmitigated mess. Point to point wiring in terminal strips. I saw a few instances where wires or components were incorrectly connected or not connected anywhere else… they were only there to confuse and disguise.

It's alien technology, dude.
You need to connect with the alien within you to get it and repair the device correctly :P

Clearly they were beyond your understanding. The complex electronics are supposed to turn the bad money in the customer's pocket and through the miracle of Scientology turn it into good money in the "church's" pocket.
Believe it or not, pointy haired people do exist!

I know, I know. I am not worthy.

These units employ unique fuzzy-linear Germanium Carbide ICs, to implement “no-pass filters” and “noise amplifiers”, which reject ALL the signals and only provide as an output distorted noise.

I remember reading L. Ron was very particular about the E-meter dynamics. He was unhappy with a new model and totally redid the panel meter. Its ballistics, bobbing had to be just right because a certain wiggle means the alternate universe is communicating and you are not clear, there is a problem with your thetan.

Whoever designed this and what firm manufactures this, I believe the latest models are digital w/firmware, must be basking in his Lambo...

Look at some VU meters with demonic rock'n roll playing, perhaps Black Sabbath or Ozzy Osbourne seems the best, then you will experience the other side lol.
