LTSpice IV for Mac
« on: January 10, 2011, 10:24:44 am »
well... not really "for Mac" but it appears to run great under Wine  :D

installation was pretty much painless... i installed wine from a pre-built binary, then installed ltspice from within wine and BAM! runs great!  i bundled all this up into a osx .app file that doesn't even require installation, but its rather large and i didn't read eula about redistribution so it might not be legit. anywho, for those mac users who might not know, ltspice rawks on wine!  ;D

i'll likely give TI's Tina a try as well. im surprised apple doesn't bundle wine with osx... so far im 2 for 2 with installing relatively obscure pc only software under wine! cheers!

Naturally, it works great on linux under Wine as well. :)
I played with a few other sims, but there's nothing with the polish of LTSpice's gui. It's a great mix with the command line spice tools available on linux that can be scripted to hell and back.

Hi
Just joined to ask this question, sorry if its stupid.
I have Lt Spice on my mac, i actually have 2 Lt Spices one from "WinOnX" and one done on "Wine".
But the problem is i can't open any files with them. The files are on my college blackboard web page but i can't seem to get them to open on LT Spice.
This is one of the files:

I was told to save that, then change the ending to ".asc" but not actually change the format.
I can do it on windows with notepad and it works but won't work on windows notepad on a mac and I've no idea why or what I'm doing wrong. I really don't want to have to use bootcamp but am getting quiet close to it.
Any tips at all would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Downloading right now.

Just noticed it was a page on how to install Wine. I am too tired to continue right now. After all, I have Windows XP running on a virtual machine, so I won't bother. Thanks anyway, and have fun!

Its ok,
I seem to have it now. I just have to save as plain txt (.txt) then change to .asc and choose to open with LT Spice. WHOHOOO! :D

"Redistribution of this software is permitted as long as it is
distributed in its entirety, with all documentation, example
files, symbols, and models without modification or additions."

its complete, just pre-installed... so it should be ok i guess??? anywho, here ya go. LTspiceIV.zip make sure to "sync release" as this is a few months old.
