Unfortunately these are also the ones who can't read the warnings. Also, although the silica is close to inert for all practical purposes the gel is deliberately porous and I doubt that much effort is given to controlling what impurities, such as heavy metals, silica gel might contain. Who knows, perhaps the best source of sand for making silica gel also has high arsenic or lead levels. |
