I saw valves being made in a British factory when I was a child. Within a few km of where I was born they not only made a huge number of TVs, but practically every component that went inside them. Now there is nothing left.

Nope, Just because you have learned to enjoy inaccurate sound reproduction doesn't make it better than accurate sound reproduction.
