Got evidence to support that assertion?

How about you show off one of your projects that is as impressively well engineered and entertaining? Bonus points if it does something to make the world a better place,  which punishing porch pirates does nicely.

"Diversion, your honour"

You are (transparently) attempting to distract and divert away from the valid points made. If you can address his point, maybe he will be more likely to address yours... but then, I can see right through your attempt to shoo away his points.

Never presume to think that others think on such a level as oneself.

--- Quote from: eti on June 17, 2022, 12:44:59 am ---No matter how "clever" or "gifted" he is in engineering (and I've yet to see proof) - he's VERY immature, and craves attention too much to validate his self-righteous, erroneous attempts at "justice". Also, and I would find it more ignore-able if he was wiser - the whole cap back to front thing is just the final straw.

Mark, sit down, stop shouting, put your cap back the right way and grow up.

The immature view here is caring how someone dresses over what arguments/content/information they are presenting.

Where is your opinion of the topic at hand, crunch labs?

--- End quote ---

I feel you are willfully cherry-picking the part which suits ya. If he was a nice chap, humble, someone like Destin Sandlin of "Smarter Every Day" or the suchlike, a chap with humility, and not one out to RAM "justice" down our throats in his exceptionally juvenile, poorly-reasoned, self-righteous tone, I'd be more inclined to pay him attention. The guy is a silly boy dressed like a grown up, and you can't escape the fact that he loves to come across as "doing good". He's a schmuck. Simple :)

--- End quote ---

He's a successful schmuck that will be responisble for getting more kids into engineering than practically anyone else on the planet.
We talked about this on today's AmpHour in fact, and Chris positied that in the future people will ask how you got into engineering, and a huge number will say Mark Rober. Same as people would say Bill Nye, or the Curiosity Show, or *insert other influence here*

You can hate his guts, but it won't change that fact.

Yep you will not extend that thought to Mark Rober who without question has and will continue to influence probably millions of kids to get into engineering.
Instead it's "he's a schuck" therefore bad.

There’s a vast array of ACTUAL engineering channels that don’t talk to the viewers like dolts, and who display QUIET confidence and humility, instead of the “LOOK WHAT I DID! I FIXED THE INJUSTICES!” blah blah friggin blah. He can be as good at engineering as anyone else, but his whole schtick is arrogant and smacks of a know it all.

I’d go with any number of ACTUAL engineers  before him. Not that he’s a bad old boy, and yeah maybe “schmuck” was harsh… but he’s disingenuous and an attention seeker.

Humility wins over arrogance and I know this first hand. I am often arrogant and don’t pretend that I’m not. I’m not proud of it but I don’t feel condemned, we are all only human.

As he stands, he SHOUTS to his viewers and comes across as an attention seeker with little  “engineering” ACTUALLY TAUGHT.

This is “engineering” in as much as MacDonalds is a prime Angus steak.

It’s fine that you don’t Agree with me, I don’t need need you to agree with me to “validate“ my Views any more than you need Me to reciprocate the same to you regarding yours.

The Internet is a very strange place where everyone has to “prove” or “validate” themselves and their views to random strangers, who don’t know them and don’t care about them. Maybe you are right, maybe I’m right, either way my opinion still is my opinion… I don’t fall out over opinions, That is very insecure and pointless.

My "view" is based on the almost certain fact that he has a huge influence on kids getting into enginering. How he does that is not my point, it's yours. You seem to refuse to even acknowledge that he's getting kids into engineering.
I'll repeat: Instead it's "he's a schuck" therefore bad.
