Ah, ok. I just spotted the inspection date was 21 Sept.

Looks like there's some good gear.

I wonder what prices it will fetch.

  • Why shouldn't we question everything?

Hmm, apart from some big old PCB work gear and the mantis, just ONE scope, and a crap 20MHz one.
In Melbourne. And I'm still trying to find spare time to go visit The_Kebab_Guy (9gag-ers will know) in Fairfield.
Collecting old scopes, logic analyzers, and unfinished projects. http://everist.org

Just returned. There is a massive amount more than depicted on that URL. 100s of 1,000s components, assemblies, pcbs, entire warehouse and tool rooms,
several R+D offices full of stuff, pallets of assemblies ... the pix are seriously not representative. I'm going to need a bigger car :-)

Damn, why can't this be in Sydney?
What are they doing with all the other stuff that's not listed?

What I didn't understand is why they so LITTLE of it listed ! If you want I'll scan a copy of the list and post it, but even then there are several items that
just say 1 pallet of stuff, and when I looked it was boxes and boxes of products, parts, tools etc  Almost like they just want to dump it?
I have a feeling DUET may take some? of the running projects. AND, there were really only 1/2 dozen (ie different group interests) that turned up. If that

This is where the bargains can be had - the auctioneers just want to shift stuff and are often open to offers for oddments. Also often more than happy to let you dive any dumpsters.
Can be worth hanging around til the end of sale and clearance days to clear up any leftovers - all they want is an empty building.
Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs

Sorry for delay, had a LONG day, then a fight with my HP scanner - telling me I was an illegal .. yadda yadda :-)
As you can see, even on this list, many items are totally non-descriptive. They all have boxes of stuff on the pallet. There's one more chance to view

Disappointment. I got there early and it seems that the opposition has pre-bid on just about ALL of the components,
R+D stuff, projects in progress, all nice equipment. Just about everything worthwhile. Just office stuff, old computers and worn tools
left. They are doing a 2hr live session online, from 12:00 - simulcast.hymans.com.au

Audio only.  No good unless you know what the lots are already.

They update the pix as each item comes up, but unless you've seen the stuff, it's a HUGE risk at the type of amounts they seem to
currently going for. Looks like most the simulcast stuff is the expensive machines anyway, just a few cr@ppy items at the end.

The table with the Mantis went for $1000.

A box of solder: $360 ... no idea what's in it.

A 20M workbench went begging - no bids.

20MHz Goldstar oscilloscope $30 (online bid)

What happened with all those components? I am curious whether they had any value at all, because sorting through them would be a nightmare. Also misc odd reel remnants couldn't be worth the trouble for a pick-n-place line to set up.
I believe Duet has literally bought the whole kit and caboodle, including current contracts, design engineers and maybe sales and staff.
They had 8-10 workers there sorting and collating everything.

So the auction for the existing gear is cancelled?

Nono .. a massive amount of the "best" stuff was pre-bid, but there was a LOT of other stuff still. It's a huge place.
The rest was over-priced specialized machinery, heaps of furniture, office stuff, tool room stuff, lots of old tools, solder stations etc
All went way too high price.

... at least didn't seem to throw money around in fancy  furniture and fittings. I wonder what the final straw was.
They had a new owner less than a year ago, who reported making huge changes. That's all I found so far.

I bought 2 x Yamaha YV100's and 1 x Yamaha YL88 machines plus a decent inventory of feeders today.   :-)   Very happy about that.. There was no other bids for them

the bids i put in where all under reserve, so i wasn't really bidding against myself.. we got the one you saw at $8k, plus negotiated on the other two.. As we had put in bids for them as well but they were well under the going price..
All in all, i got a pretty sweet deal.  Yes, we are in the business, I'm moving assembly from outsourced to in house.   But no i won't be taking on making stuff for other people.
