Today in the Roman (Gregorian) calendar is January 6.  That is Epiphany, the day when the wise men from the East appeared to visit the Christ Child.  This is also known as the Twelfth Day of Christmas (as in the song or the Shakespeare play Twelfth Night).

Today in the Julian calendar ( see Julius Caesar  see NASA apropos mean Julian day) is Christmas day.
