MOSFET question
« on: August 03, 2021, 01:43:24 am »
Hello,
I just received a few Toshiba K4207 Mosfets and they act a bit differently than most other Mosfets I've tested.
I think this is the datasheet.....
https://alltransistors.com/mosfet/transistor.php?transistor=13707

When I put my multimeter positive on the Drain and Negative probe on the Source pin I get OL (so far so good)
But then if I place the multimeter positive lead on the Gate pin and then move it back to the Drain pin, I get a readiing of approximately 2.8 but jumps around for a second then quickly drops back to OL.
Usually, other Mosfets seem to keep the Drain Source voltage for a lot longer.

Is this any indication of the condition of the Mosfet?

How could I know if I got authentic or fake Mosfets?
Thanks

The mosfet does have integral G-S zeners so it's possible their leakage current is what you are seeing discharge the gate-capacitance quicker than usual. You can try measure ohms G-S to see if it's strangely low or something. But it doesn't say much about what's inside. I rely on knowing the distributor I bought them from.
If these are purchased from the same place you got your exploding CapXon, well... seeing these work near 150W might be disappointing and require a face shield.
