this is instead for the RC circuit equivalent in discrete time, which doesn't really fit into any one of many subforms here so general it is.

Another mental calculation that I come back to routinely, but didn't have a good reference for the "accurate" calculations and instead relied on the linear approximations. So this pulls together calculations in all directions: time or frequency to/from alpha coefficient, and plots the region where the approximations diverge.
