Mouser Backordering Tip

Hi all,

Apparently at least for UK, Mouser similar to DK ships orders from USA. Probably to save from shipping, if you have multiple items on backorder, they'd wait for all of them to become available, before shipping to you. On last occasion, I had to wait few months after one of my parts became available, before having it shipped as the other one was delayed a dozen times, yet they would wait, unlike most other suppliers that would ship as soon as part becomes in stock.

Way around this: if your order amount allows, split your order in separate orders and have the backordered parts in different orders - that way they'd ship as soon as all backordered parts in a single order are available. In my case I had over £100 order which if I knew that, could have split in three and still get free shipping, saving months delay on few needed bits and pieces!

Just thought this may be helpful to some of you.

I haven’t checked whether Mouser does this, but DK actually lets you split an order into scheduled shipments even without a particular delivery meeting the minimum order quantity, as long as the whole order does!

My experience is exactly opposite. They ship as some quantity appears in stock. Often some order shipped in 3 or more parts.

Did you check if it's actually the same Mouser Part No? Even if the same part appeared in stock but under a different Mouser Part No, then it's not what you ordered. Or maybe you just clicked a wrong shipping option.

Absolutely, same part, even got email to confirm that although available, will not ship before the other one is too. Re options -  certainly clicked the right one, as I did get everything else couple of days after ordering as usual - wouldn't have otherwise. Also, after the 10th delay, I did contact Mouser, which confirmed the case - they started waiting for all backordered parts to be in stock before shipping, which with current unexpected supply delays on their side amounts to a considerable waiting time...

I can confirm what wraper said. Recently placed an order and had some backordered parts in there.
They shipped everything they had stocked, and the items that weren't available will be shipped later on.
I got the same screen when choosing what to do with backordered parts.
