Used them a few times, service was fine. Not sure they have a free shipping threshold, but shipping cost was reasonable.

Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.

They don't but shipping to EU is EUR 7/7.90 (ex VAT), so not an issue, especially considering their prices are generally quite a bit lower.

Tme is very good but I find they lack choice in semi's from TI, AD and other us firms.
They do have some but way less than Mouser and Digikey.

Well, they likely have whatever TI they have left from old stock, since TI decided to slash its distributor network down to basically just Arrow, Digikey and Mouser. Or they distribute it unofficially.

(I don’t know whether they’re an authorized distributor for ADI, etc.)

I used to order regularly from TME, but their ignorance to the UK market post Brexit was too much to take in - years had passed and they still couldn't figure how to "update" their systems to take orders from the UK! Even their UK office help line agents sounded hopelessly frustrated with the situation.

Once upon a time, their lower prices made somewhat up the lack of free shipping and the hassle with their rather awkward to me basket system, but last time I checked, their prices can't anymore justify the mandatory shipping charges, whatever the order....

I hope I was wrong, but always felt cautious back in the day that something may not be quite right - their very low prices were sometimes too good to be true and when ordering from them and DK or Mouser for the same components, markings were different, so certainly sourcing from different, not necessarily (hopefully) not genuine factories.

It might be somewhat awkward and basket is moved to favorites around midnight. However it's for a reason. When you add parts to the basket, they're actually removed from visible stock. So you can be 100% sure that nothing will become out of stock when you check out.

Seemingly a good idea, but if that's how it really works, there may be a good reason others don't do the same - I for one use baskets to save parts, so I don't forget to order them next time, which could be in a couple of weeks, but more importantly, anyone can add large quantities for one reason or another and block others from purchasing. Would make much more sense to block stock only once one get to checkout and order confirmation page.

...and there's the awkward bit - I've not seen any other major electronics or otherwise for that matter store using this sort of shopping cart system - feels like they tried to reinvent the wheel dismissing what the rest of the world has done so far.

Of course, there always the chance it's just me ::), or is it?

Yes, that's quite annoying..
Mouser UK always had a 33 pounds cap for free shipping, but now, as of 21st of June 2026, they have increased that threshold up to 65 pounds (just asked the customer support). :palm: :bullshit:

You're probably right, but still, this is likely the highest in industry! Yes, Farnell got to £40 from £20 (although CPC division still holds £20 here in the UK), RS for years has been the most expensive since the no minimum free shipping in the good ol' days.
For Switzerland, it's definitely not the highest.

Mouser's threshold is CHF 70. (Shipping cost CHF 23.)
Digikey's threshold is CHF 54. (Shipping cost CHF 20.)
Farnell's free shipping threshold is CHF 75. (Shipping cost CHF 15.)

Distrelec's is CHF 50 for business customers, but CHF 120 for consumers. (Shipping ~CHF 12 for business customers, CHF 8 for consumers.)
Reichelt: no free shipping (shipping ~CHF 10 and up, by weight)
Conrad: CHF 200 (businesses can pay a token annual fee and get free shipping; normal shipping cost CHF 10)

RS: I could swear it used to be CHF 90, but now the threshold is zero, with free shipping with no minimum order at all. (Of course, RS's prices tend to be on the high side for a lot of things, and they often have only prepacks in larger quantities than one might need.)
Just a little update: for Switzerland, at least, Farnell just reduced the free shipping threshold from CHF 75 to CHF 50!

Edit: ah, just a special offer until September 2.
