A friend posted this picture of a toy car, that she found among her sons toys. It made me think of Dave.

The problem is all these European countries sound similar.

Take sweden and Switzerland for example:

The confusion is language dependent.

Sverige shouldn't be confused with  Schweiz, Suisse, Svizzera, Svizra or Confoederatio Helvetica

When I was growing up they were part of Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia respectively so I have had to unlearn all the geography I learned at school.

The names (or at least their Romanisation into English) of a lot of cities have changed as well - all very confusing (e.g. Bombay becoming Mumbai, Peking becoming Beijing and so on).

One of my friends from college is half Armenian. I think in the UK at least more people are aware of the Armenian massacres during the first world war. It was a news item very recently because of the anniversary:

Foster's was created by two Irish American brothers, William M and Ralph R Foster, who arrived in Melbourne from New York in 1886. 

I prefer Cooper's myself if drinking Australian brew (Cooper came from North Yorkshire, so that would have Scottish brew influence)
