So, last week I found some ugly capacitors in my Tek oscilloscope, so I decided to go through and replace them all before something kicked the bucket in an unfriendly way. Every single aluminum or tantalum electrolytic replaced with the best quality caps I could get my hands on.
Turned it on and... goddamn CTT (Counter/Timer/Trigger) module won't initialize.

So... what went wrong?
I've been screwing around with this thing for days now (in between studying for finals, at least), trying to track down the issue. Found it today!
What needed to be done?
Swab of IPA on the underside of the trigger HIC. Must have gotten some semi-conductive debris on there when I had them all removed - one of the status lines was "shorted" (12 ohms) to ground through it.
I spent the last week digging in the internals of this thing to find that it needed a
swab of IPA.
Well, at least I didn't have to replace anything.
