I hope Elon keeps up his Pro-America views. There's very few left in USA who can keep that country sane.

The reality is absolutely absurd and embarrassing. Anyone making excuses for it should be mocked.

I think there is a misunderstanding that people who bring up his autism are trying to 100% excuse everything he does.
It's being brought up mostly as an explanation.

But to be fair, the level of excuse you give someone with a disorder is a spectrum.
If someone has Tourette's, for example, you give them an extremely high level of excuse for their actions, because they can't control it.
If someone has a very minor level of autism you excuse them very little because it's minor and they can control it.
But anyone in the middle should get some amount of latitude.

This is of course only for genuine autism, not if it's being used as an excuse, but imho that isn't that common.
Things do get more complicated when someone with a disorder is in a position of power where their actions have big consequences.

But as far as Elon goes, some amount of latitude makes sense given it's clear he has some amount of autism.
How much you give is entirely up to you, but giving none would be unfair.

I like your explanation better than my clumsy attempt.

I didn't know of my own condition till my son's diagnosis and my subsequent diagnosis. People live their entire lives knowing their perspective and often not knowing they see the world substantially different than the general population. Then others, such as my cousin, who's Autism is so bad that he's not functional in society and so its obvious.

I brought up Elon's ASD because, as you say, it explains why he seems odd/different to many. I also brought up my experiences as I can somewhat relate to the knee jerk reactions society often has. I don't believe I have nor will I ask for anyone to excuse me for my condition. I doubt Elon will either.
