My Blogs are getting out of control!
(1/5) > >>
EEVblog:
As the title says, I think my blogs are starting to get out of control. Well, they probably have been for quite some time now!
But I've just finished my Agilent meter review and the damn thing is around the 28 minute mark!, and that's with fairly heavy handed editing I think.

I do my best, but I had so much to say it's just so hard to cut things out.
If I went back and post-filmed things for efficiency I could get the times down, but that would take me forever and I'd never finish anything...
If I cut half the content I could get it down to say 15min maybe, but that's still a long blog, so my current thinking is I might as well put all the content in and try to get the time down by heavy editing of the into and end of each cut scene/comment.

So what does everyone think about the big blog times recently?
Do you care?
Is longer better?
Do you prefer heavy editing to make it as short as possible?
Or are you happy with my current, "take as long as you want to say the things you want" approach?
Reviews seem to just take so much longer than the usual rants.

Opinionate away!

Thanks.
Dave.
Machina:
In my mind its the subject matter rather than the length that matters. For example if I'm listening to a interviewer and his guest, its the guest that carries it(or not). In your case if your subject matter is interesting the length is irrelevant.

So based on your past blogs I could probably listen to a 30 minute review of a Agilent meter quite easily.

I have a short attention span so 5-10 minutes I can handle, but after watching your first few blogs I wanted more!  I found my self watching an hour of your blogs.  IMO, 10 minutes is a good length.  Interesting topics I can see up to 30 minutes, but I would rather see 3 10 minute blogs than a 30 minute blog.  What every you do, keep doing it I really enjoy your videos! Thanks Dave.

Hi Dave,

Time is no problem for me, I prefer a more in depth look at things, if you just sat there and went here is the new meter from XXXX it is great, you should buy it .... I would feel ripped off, I like to know how the range switch feels, if it has the stupid you have to rotate the range switch to get it to turn on / off etc. I also like the inside shots to see the build quality or lack of.

I like that you point out the traps for beginners etc.

I like the indepth/length, but some of the things i don't need the video aspect, so i usually just listen to them in the background when i'm working then flip back to the video if its something that needs video, i might rewatch.

maybe a podcast?

you're an entertaining bloke to listen too.
