My new microscope's journey to OZ
« on: July 31, 2014, 07:44:15 am »
Ordered myself an AMscope and I've been having a good laugh at its travels

I really shouldn't complain as it cost like $40AUD to get 65lbs from the US to my place here in OZ (I think they're using eBay's global shipping program) but I've been tracking it for this past week and it's almost turning into an exciting game

The journey so far

ALISO VIEJO, CA
HODGKINS, IL
INDIANAPOLIS, IN
LEXINGTON, KY
ELSMERE, KY
ERLANGER, KY
MEMPHIS, TN
CHICAGO, IL

You wouldn't live in WA, Maybe got confused and thought Washington before realising the error.

I got confused myself for a minute, then realised you mean WA = Western Australia, rather than Washington.  :palm:

I know its almost a year past but I'm looking at these scopes and would love to know how you got shipping for so cheap. Even with global shipping it shows as hundreds. Who did you order through?
(Would love to know the model and how you like it too)

Isn't China closer to you than the US?  These scopes come from China.

Freight is still astronimcal. Almost the same as the scope itself: as and example, just the stand $176, Freight $153

I am looking here for example, ~300 USD including shipping to NZ. That not bad. You will also need ring light but they are not expensive.

Hi subx99, sorry for taking so long to reply. I saw your first post on my phone last week and thought, I'll reply to that when I get home ::)

Had a look back through my emails and the seller was precision world

Don't know the model number but it's a 3.5-45x trinocular stereo Microscope with the double arm boom. It came with a pretty crappy ring light but later I ordered from them a 144 LED light and a 2MP usb camera.

What do I think of it? Best thing I've bought for the lab!!
Excellent working height, nice optics, sturdy build and easy to work under. Search this forum, others have posted more detailed threads on these scopes

Sorry to see postage prices escalate, I paid just shy of $34, believe it or not. You can still find some comparable deals from the same seller mentioned above, except not all their scopes seem to have eBay's international shipping.

Here's one very similar to the one I got. Postage is quite high but not a deal breaker, especially if you consider the weight

Thx guys.

Seems to be good saving if it is listed under Global Shipping. That link is freight of $122US, with listed weight of 65lb, and the chart linked in their shipping is $550US for that weight. Problem for me arises that not all thier models are listed with the freight subsidised so cant get the config I was after. I even tried individual parts which is why I was looking up the stand pricing.

If only I was here a year ago...

Thx again!

You can get it directly from the factory: http://yydag.com/EN/products.asp

The shipping will still be high, if not higher, but you might get a better deal with what you save on the microscope itself. There are some rebranders and resellers in Europe too, but EU prices are higher than it would cost to buy them from across the ocean, import taxes included.
