That ship has sailed. The click-baity titles are here. I occasionally find out about new channels here on the forum and the YT recommended videos are infrequently useful. What it doesn't understand is the channels I watch are heavily skewed to people I like watching. And I'll occasionally spend some time down a particular rabbit-hole. Like "prehistoric old machine found under ice in Antarctica. Will it start?" or "making wheels for Spanish cannon" but the interest wanes before the recommendations do.

I have never restored a tube radio but I like watching Mr Carlson's Lab.
I know little about RF and microwave but I like watching The Signal Path
Not sure exactly why I watch Mikeselectricstuff but I'm sure I'll learn something.
I watch Franlab just because Fran is enthusiastic about stuff and I find it inspiring.

Why do I watch Project Binky? Who knows.

In each case the reason is the people. The YT algorithm just doesn't get it.

The ads on YT are getting stupider and stupider and irrelevant 

and fwiw I will NEVER use GrammaRRRLEE,    even if free or 'the dog gets the bullet if I refuse' 


That said, there were a couple of random fast ads for a recent Supercheap Auto sale that came in handy by sheer fluke

My first car was one of those, so I'm now drawn into the project - as if I didn't have enough distractions as it is.

lol, I think the sprint after starting to do it full time has brought the average up to ~5 videos per year

I was about to say, I haven't watched or seen a single ad on Youtube for years.

I can block them too, but noticed some relevant content won't happen,
well that was the case a while back, not sure now     

So I leave Firefox wide open and tolerate the 10 seconds of crap 

If the ads are really bad sometimes, I just restart the PC and problem sorted. 

The occasional 'confirm your age' bs is annoying too, probably an info harvesting trap of sorts?

I love that Binky had reached so far. I think the fact that they don't release that many videos, and that the one's they do are so well edited, honest and clever, have made it my number one subscription, just ahead of This Old Tony. The British humour helps too!

I hate the "search bubble" that these algorithms want you to live in.

We all need fresh air in through the windows once in a while, and the algorithms do their best to stop that happening.
