NEED HELP!! Mystery Flash chip MFM8516

ataradov:
It is hard to tell without knowing what your programmer supports. From a random search, something like MX29F040C might work.

MX29F040C supports some additional commands, like reading a device ID, so if the programmer tries to use it, it might fail. You will have to look for even more basic equivalent.
SeanB:
28C040 should at least allow you to read it, just do not try to identify the device.
Retromat:
thanks! that sond promising, i iwll be using a Galep5 for this but if you have any recommendation for something even better?
Retromat:
The funyn thing is, i have a second bard with the same layouts but then the chips on them are a WMF512K8  and they seem identical. I attached the spec sheet there too as i would bet they have the same operations just different manufacturers?
ataradov:
Yes, those devices are roughly identical. Flash is flash, it has been standardized.  There are minor differences between the devices, but overall they all are interchangeable on a basic level (provided the same or better speed grade is used).
