Need help interpreting Chinese instructions for a clock
« on: April 25, 2015, 01:02:12 pm »
Might buy this clock kit just to see how it looks/works -

Clock Kit

I downloaded the PDF file instructions, but I'm not sure what they mean in some places. Main thing is where it says in 3 or four places -

"... add "1" as 8 MHz speed".

What's that all about? I take it "long press button" means to press it a long time, but I have no clue what the 8 MHz thing is all about. There's also another place where it mentions "1 MHz"

Here is a small screen shot, and I attached the PDF file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

short press is straight forward.  +1 per press when the sound is on ( guess sound means a beep for every increment)

Long press is +1 at 8 Hz rate when sound is on.   I guess a better way to put it,  is +1 per 125ms.

I only read Japanese but the characters are similar. I think what it is saying is that if you hold the button down the time advances one unit 8 times per second. In other words the increment rate is 8Hz.

Hmmm ... Sounds plausible.

I've noticed another translation quirk - whenever they mean "soldering" they always seem to use the word "welding". Is there no exact Chinese translation for "soldering"?
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

That has been discussed before.  Apparently there are several languages where they don't make a distinction between "welding" and "soldering".

Sorry, I missed it.  I'm not much into PMs.
