Need Help with Electronics Artwork
« on: December 19, 2017, 05:54:22 pm »
Gentlemen! I need some creative help with some art work to be done up this week. I have an idea on what I want but looking for suggestions on or input on how it should be made. I found a great artist down the street from me and has done some very interesting work but came up with the idea of using electronic components, circuits and diagrams to make some sort of canvas. I am heavy into electronics but not very creative, he is very creative but knows nothing about electronics but has a idea of what he wants to do but wants my guidance on what to do. Can anybody suggest some circuits, circuit diagrams and or PCB layouts that we can work off? He wants to have something that he can study and tell people what it is, not just random stuff. I am not creative enough to pick something out and not sure what to use or make. I am heaving into audio circuits and stuff. Discreet opamps? Power amplifiers? Digital to analog, analog to digital? I can also go with something classic like the 6502 or the z80 platform as well. I am open to suggestions.

Thanks
Ted

I'd suggest going with a few classics, maybe even a remix of them. That should amuse and entertain people who know what they're looking at, and function equally well for people who don't.

What did you have in mind? I just don't know what to use, I have a lot to work with but want something that someone can figure out if they are smart enough. Hell I would go with the classic 555 timer circuit but that's to simple and not big enough.

Ideas:

Transistor clock
8-bit computer
4 function logic chip calculator
AM/FM tansistor radio

It seems you want it with the parts placed over their symbols on the schematic? Keep it single or double sided then.

Yeah, the 555 came to mind. You could incorporate it into something else.

I kind of like the transistor or discrete logic clock idea too. If you look at Dave's clock video, with the clock he made decades ago, you see it's actually quite easily explained to even a layman.

I am leaning more to a PCB layout so I don't have to specify any part or symbol. It will be single sided.

Try goggling "statue made from electronic components" lots of examples there.
