Electronics Markets / General Geekery in Japan ???
« on: October 05, 2023, 11:09:57 pm »
Hi All,

I'm going to Japan for the first time ever, visiting Kyoto Osaka and Tokyo for 10 days, in a couple of weeks..     Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for places to go and visit in Japan for general electronics interest?

I'm also in the market to buy a new laptop, but so far searches of the intertubes suggest its not really any cheaper than at home.

Any suggestions?
On a quest to find increasingly complicated ways to blink things

There's a Tokyo/Akihabara thread here:

Other than that, I'm also on the look out for other Japan suggestions!

The exciting days of the 70's and 80's in Akihabara and Nihonbashi are over. When I was there in the 80's and 90's they were awesome places. I revisited Akihabara about four years ago.
I only found one ham radio shop, no electronics components shops, but plenty of manga shops and other rubbish that might be of no interest to those into electronics. A big disappointment.
Maybe some in that list are worth finding... good luck.
