So what about releasing on both, yt and for example vimeo? Wouldn't a slow transition be an idea?
For the vast majority of Youtubers, no, not if you want to stay in business as a video content producer.
What I'm saying is that's 30K+ views per day by searches I would lose and never get back if I moved from Youtube.
Vimeo does not have the same user base or search value, by many orders of magnitude.
Personally, my channel would likely survive financially if I dumped youtube (at least in the short term), but most youtubers are not in my position.
If you are really anti-youtube then you really have to be anti-adsense as well, after all, it's all the evil google right?
In that case say goodbye to almost all your advertising income as a content producer.
Only an incredibly foolish full time youtuber would quit youtube, that is why hardly anyone is doing it.
It's easy for someone who's livelihood and lifestyle does not depend on youtube to say dump youtube, but in reality it ain't that easy, or wise for those who rely on it.
And it's not only that, but many of us, for all it's faults, still like youtube and have built up an audience here, and it would be hurting them by pulling out.
