No problem.
Unlike some other electronics forums, we aren't protective here, and are more than happy to promote other forums and resources.
Good luck with it.

Dave.

You won't get people to join an empty forum.

Why should I join?

What makes it better than this place?

Do you have any interesting projects, tutorials, articles or reviews?

I'm an administrator on another forum which has a few simple projects which hardly gets any new posts apart from spam. If anyone wants to sign up and contribute, they're welcome.

I concur, not trying to bash your newly built forum, although above comments sound harsh, these are actually honest feedbacks for you.

I've seen successfully blog/portal's forums out there usually made great contributions before hand to the public, like Dave did in early days of eevblog with his videos, and imo that was quite a gamble too since nobody knows the future, but once the traffic picked up and had enough audiences, hopefully it will be self sustainable.

The bad news is since there is no guarantee even you're walking the same path, that it will yield the same result like Dave's, worst some people might perceived you as a copycat.

You should think very hard , creative and make your site unique, and usually needs a very serious commitment as well. Just making a nice looking forum, and expecting gazillion people to jump in there joining like crazy is just too unrealistic.

Also popping out here or there just "plainly" inviting people is just not good enough, and if you do that too often like blindly bumping up this thread just now few posts back, or even creating new one without any good reason, people will starting to ignore you, and once the moderators see your invitations are beginning to look annoying, I'm pretty sure it will be deleted like other ordinary spam thread, and probably they will show you the boot too.

My 2 cents.

Every forum with out contributors its just an empty cell of few megabytes, that does not have much chances to grow.
There is many advices of how to start an forum or blog, if you Google it a bit.

But, what Google does not say, are that if you do not have friends to assist you, your millage will be short.
The chances will grow if you can invite your own classmates to join in it, and start sharing material about DIY projects.

Thank you for your opinions. I read it very carefully. It's true, that in this case I'm a little bit naive. But it is still my dream to have electronics forum, and I would like to try it. I know that forum without topics is really stupid. I really know. So I'm asking you for help. Is here anybody who would like to help me? With some topics, or ..... something.

Thank you.

I'm sure that everyone on these forums would have no problem in becoming one of your forum members and discussing topics. The problem is that you have no content to discuss and we would be wasting our time and energy posting on a forum that had no spark on it. It'd be like if just decided to make an invisionfree forum to talk about electronics... but there was no accessible content on that actual site to give us topics to discuss.

I don't know if that makes sense.

Anyway, do some reviews. Make some DIY projects.. just do something. It'll garner attention and give people something to talk about.

Hold contests, put up something like 50 bucks or a development board for the winner of some sort of contest.

I think you missed the point everyone here was trying to make.

What good are more topics without any real content to discuss?

You are right. It isn't easy to start new forum.  The content write members. And the members don't come without content etc ....

Maybe if you create some interesting content i.e. videos, projects, articles etc. then people might sign up?

Yep, and that's the problem with creating new forums. There has to be a reason for people to visit every day to read/contribute/discuss.
In the case of this forum, it started as a place for eevblog viewers to discuss my videos. So that's what early talk concentrated on, and then it naturally branched out into general electronics once it had that critical mass.

EEVblog: Hello, thank you for answer. I now, that start new empty forum without anything isn't the best way. Your way was much more better. But I have no videos. I have no DIY projects. I have only dream. I made a "space" for people who need help. Maybe it isn't enough.

From another way: Should be the menu layout simplified? Is it cluttered? Here is a link to my forum again.

so basically your just a bloke that wants to run a forum, and ? You need an interest group to get it off the ground, there are already a few very good electronics forums around, what do you want to add to that ? an empty forum ? we are mostly fine as we are. This forum grew out of request from users.

I have recently setup a forum for residents of my local area, but i set it up to replace one that was going to be closed and it's members wanted a forum. Still it moves slowly. Just installing a forum will not get you a community wanting to use it and people don't hang out in empty forums

Hi Simon, thank you for your view. I agree with everything what you said. Just create a forum does not mean anything. But it must be some way. Electro forum will be here minimum a 1 year. I have enough time to try it.
Thank you very much. I read your advices very carefully. If you have any other ideas, please let me know. We will see.

It's kind of like you've given everybody a big blank page to write on... except that there is no shortage of pages to write on that people already use with interesting stuff to read.

You haven't built anything new and different, haven't filled a necessary need.  It's not that the topics are wrong or the screen is the wrong color.  You haven't created the reason for people to post there.  Someone can post a question here and it's viewed by hundreds of people, including knowledgeable people that may be able to help.  Why post on your page where maybe a handful of people will even read the post?

You need a unique selling point.  The fact that a person can be the first to post a question in any of a number of categories isn't it.

There's no point in trying to tell him, he won't listen, you're wasting your time.

This thread is starting to get annoying.

Does this forum have an ignore thread feature? It would be nice not to see this crappy thread when I click on the show unread posts since last visit link.
