Hello all,
I was an electroincs hobyist in my youth which led me to a Masters of Science degree in Electronics a bit later. But I somehow made a career in a very different field and I did not look into electronics for a few decades. Now, in my fifties, I rediscovered electronics as a hobby. It is amazing to see how much has changed, especially how easy it has become to tap into knowledge through the internet.
Daves videos and this forum offer a wealth of knowledge and it is beautiful to see how the members help each other.
I have learned a lot from Dave and the forum and hope to be able to contribute to it too, sooner or later.

In the past I have built microphones, preamps, compressors and equalizers for my recording studio, mainly from kits.
Now i'm using my newly acquired electronics knowledge to design my own audio gear.

Hello everyone. I am Ace and I'm from the Philippines, specifically Iloilo. I was just freshly graduated my senior high as a STEM student and now I'm about to take my Electronics Engineering Entrance Exams tomorrow and on Saturday. I have found a passion in PCB Designing because of this new hobby I'm in which is drone racing. Every now and then, I would try to design something that can help further the hobby such as designing flight controllers, 5.8GHz video receivers, you know, those kind of things but then I still lack the money to actually have the board manufactured lol

Hi all,

I was a EE major and studied DSP/RF, but my projects have been in software, so I have extremely limited electronics experience--which I'm trying to change

I've been dabbling with the Lattice Icestick open source FPGA toolchain (Project Icestorm / yosys) for the past few months. My current project is to talk to an external nvRAM chip to read/write data in response to UART commands from a host PC. Can't wait for my DS1054Z to arrive in the mail so I can properly debug this thing.

I have no ties to the electronics industry, but I am now a registered ham if that counts for anything.

My name is Bruno and I am currently living in Switzerland.
A long time ago I studied electronics, and I also have my HAM license since a couple of years, just for fun (I don't use it).
As I don't work in this field, I consider it as a hobby and play with my gear from time to time to get my brain running.

My name is Rich, although I have been used the alias RWAP for the internet and even articles I wrote back in the 1980s.

I have a varied background, having originally practised as a solicitor, done work as a landscape gardener and conservation worker, and even programmed PLCs for baggage handling systems and sewerage treatment works.  However, my main love has been programming - I started out with Sinclair computers during my teens and am pleased to have been running my business for 30 years (mainly in my spare time) supporting retro computers almost since they were new!

I am now probably best known for creating my own retro computer marketplace (sellmyretro.com) and for supplying keyboard membranes for a range of different 1980s computers.

This year will also see the launch of my Retro-Printer module which I first realised was needed in about '97 when it was getting hard to find centronics ESC/P2 printers, to use with the old computers.  Unfortunately, it has only been with the advent of the Raspberry Pi and other single board computers, that this project has been able to become an affordable reality.

Hello, my name is Trent Spencer. I am self taught with little formal education. I currently work as the RF Engineer at a small company in Alabama, USA. We design and manufacture attenuators, filters, equalizers and diplexers for the cable TV industry.

I have been interested in electronics since I was around 8 years old (currently 27) and originally got started by taking stuff apart around the house, like I'm sure many of the people on this forum did.

Since I now work in the industry and this is no longer just a hobby, I have been trying to learn as much as I can and improve my skills as much as I can. For the last 2 years I have made a lot of progress and I consider myself on the level of an above average EE student (albeit with more experience in RF).

I am a HAM radio operator and enjoy building antennas and gear more than I like being on the air. My call sign is KM4YTU and I am a general class operator.

I look forward to becoming a part of this community.

I'm Glenn from Melbourne, Australia. I stumbled across the EEVBlog videos on youtube a couple of months ago and then registered for this forum, where I have been lurking thus far.
I've been deeply interested in electronics since my early teens, although it didn't turn out to be my profession (IT) of 33 years. I have built lots of projects and designed my own stuff over the years, mainly to do with audio. I have been a member of diyaudio.com for 14 years, Melbourne Audio Club (MAC) for 30 years, Historical Radio Society of Austraila (HRSA) for 20 years. 
My workshop includes a collection of "old school" test equipment from General Radio, AVO, HP, Keithley, Marconi, plus 100's of electrical engineering / electronics books going back to the 1880's, plus a reasonable collection of vacuum tubes / valves (~1000 different types). I also have every issue of Electronics Australia, and Radio, TV & Hobbies, and Radio & Hobbies (1st issue April 1939).

My name is Travis, hailing from the United States (Arkansas). I've made a couple of posts already, but since it is generally tradition to introduce one's self, I shall post here!

I am a 28 year old software engineer who has a significant interest in electronics. I got my first real start building a couple of tube amps from schematics/instructions online just under 15 years ago. Since then, I've continued doing some minor projects. I then got my HAM Technician's  license (KE5TKR) sometime before graduating high school, and have since then continued exploring electronics. I am a bit of an audiophile, so have enjoyed building amplifiers and speakers.

In recent months, I've devoted a lot more of my time to learning more electronics theory/etc. I have a couple of books that I put an hour or two into each day, working out the maths in my notebook and building some circuits. I've also begun studying for the next level of HAM certification, which includes some slightly more in-depth electronics knowledge. Lately, I've enjoyed playing around with analog and digital electronics, alike. I made a couple of cool things with AVR assembly a while back, and enjoy using the Arduino now! I definitely love electronics as a hobbyist, and could even see myself shifting into a more hardware-oriented career at some point in the future. (Other potentially relevant interests: Aviation, automobiles, software development, diy audio(philia), cooking, gardening, musical instruments, a handful of others.)

I am thankful to have such a great forum here (of which I have been a lurker for many years now.) I'm excited to contribute to the conversation with the knowledge I have, and to learn as much as possible from everybody else!

Hello EEVblog forum, RF Technician here worked in Submarine Comms (Navy ET), Remote Satellite Tracking and currently in the Land Mobile Radio/Low Voltage Tech fields.  Long time follower of Dave, and the EEVblog videos which helped me get through my tech school courses several years ago.  Really enjoy everyone's mailbag submissions, look forward to send in something myself soon. 

I am currently working on building up a home Electronics Test Bench, and am re-learning a lot of electronics theory that I don't use everyday in my field.  As far as outside of work electronics fun, I mainly mess with my guitars and amps.  My current goal is to repair a broken DigiTech GNX3 that has sat in a closet for far too long.

My name is Keith! I was born in England, but I live in Japan now!
My main interest is classic 8 bit computers from the 80's/90's - I mess around a lot with 8 bit computer programming (z80 assembly), but I'm also trying to learn how to repair and maintain them as there are a lot of cheap computers for sale that need a bit of repair.
so I'll probably be lurking around the forums trying to soak up some info, and asking the odd stupid question!

After two years learning computer programming at my local technical college I got very interested how software and hardware interact at a basic level.
One thing led to another and now I'm addicted to embedded programming, fiddling around with components on a bread board, and electric theory
At the moment I am having fun controlling LEDs in interesting ways and I am working on creating a NiMH battery charger.

Currently i'm a Linux Embedded Systems developer, i've learned some basic electronics and basic / asm programming, ending up studing electrical/electronic engineering as complement, since most knowledge was obtained outside school enviromment or when was pratical projects envolved. It all started withh the screw driver and tear apart things...
Currently i've developed some projects with microcontrollers, electronics, electrical stuff up to 230V ( relay's, triacs)  and most recently become a software guy on Embedded Linux, most developing drivers, leaving almost behind the electronics and now i'm trying to remember all to complement my work capabilites, maybe it will become as a hobby too.

Ocassionally i do some repairs , nothing too special.

For extra enjoy i practice some sports like swimming , hikking and sometimes running.

So teaching and learning will be the cycle of life.
