Good Afternoon,

Perusing this site trying to find ways that I could increase the capability of a new-to-me Anritsu SiteMaster S332D. I acquired this unit at quite a bargain and having purchased an InstaCal and new battery, look forward to using the instrument in my volunteer and professional world. I primarily look to use it for chasing down cables and antenna issues related to Amateur Radio, however I am also in public safety and instruct courses related to communications. This instrument will likely tag along with me to courses as show-n-tell and to help others understand the tech available to them. Currently the unit only has Option 3. While it is beyond EOL, I am wondering what mods may be available to unlock other features of this now antiquated technology. The last time I updated an S332E I believe a hex file had to be uploaded via USB. I am guessing that something similar has to be done over the serial connection on the S332D model since it doesn't have a USB port. Anyone know of a code generator or other ways to get the activation codes? What about internal hardware to add features?

Hi! I'm George, 58. I've been in hardware and software a long time. An unfinished EE, a BSCS+telecom, and various certs.

I was in amateur radio until 2018. My neighbor got started because of me, and now leads the local club, and is pressuring me to get back into it.

I've been at my current job for 20 years at a Point-Of-Sale manufacturer... Developing firmware and BIOS, drivers, and debugging our hardware designs... Writing diagnostic and utility apps, originally in DOS but now in UEFI.

I found the EEVblog forum when I wondered whether I could do anything about calibrating my ZT-102 multimeter. Modding ensued... I started buying more cheap DMMs with higher counts from overseas, just to see how well they behaved when modded and/or calibrated. Of course, then I had to buy some accurate benchtop meters and some calibration sources... I think I have the beginnings of TE addiction.

Not "new" anymore, but never got to introduce myself.

My username is BlownUpCapacitor, but my real name is Benjamin Badrakh.
I am currently 15, living in CA, USA as I write this. I have a genuine interest in electronics, mainly old electronics. I haven't designed many circuits so far, but have serviced a few scopes and test equipment to date. These include a Tek 2230, Tek 7613, Tek 2235, Tek DC504, Tek FG501, Tek SC502, Tekpower power supply, Tek 5CT1N, Tek 5110, and Exact 524. My first fix was a 2235 when I was 11 years of age. Only a few bad caps in the PSU causing massive ripples in the waveform.

Every time I fix another piece of gear, I learn something new, and also repairing TE keeps me busy.

My next piece of gear I plan to fix is a 7904. I found this beast in my local E-Recycle shop, and have not yet taken it yet, for lack of skill. But I have saved up a nice knowledge and hope to take it with me next week for restoration and repairs.
