Hi all,

Derek here, based in Shenzhen. I've been working in the electronic
components distribution industry for several years — mainly sourcing,
cross-referencing, stock checks, and obsolescence management.

I joined to get better at the practical side of electronics —
circuit design, test equipment, failure analysis.

Happy to help if anyone is stuck tracking down a hard-to-find part
or needs a second pair of eyes on a BOM.

Looking forward to learning from this community.

Cheers,
Derek

Greetings from Antarctica!

I am a scientist, now retired after 40 years working on a mixed bag of things. My electronics experience was very thin, and so to keep busy in my dotage I started messing with Microcontrollers and sensors. I mostly read threads to pick up useful tips (or sometimes not so useful), and post a little worthless nonsense in the interest of accumulating goodwill.

Hello.  I am John.  I registered to EEVblog back in 2020.  I am in my mid 50's.  I am an RC 3D helicopter hobbyist for the past 16 years.  I do not have any formal education or training in electronics, but I have amazed a collection of electronic equipment tools over my adult life.  I currently have several Fluke and Brymen digital multimeters (DMMs).  I also own several DMM calibration testing equipment.  I recently purchased several USB testing equipment, mid-level digital oscilloscopes, several soldering stations, a digital microscope, and a 57 KWatt spot welder.  My goal is to learn how to fix and restore "broken" electronics, as well as to eventually teach others how to do the same.  Thank you for letting me join your group!!  🙏🏼

Hello! Brian_Entei here!
I've always seen this site around and heard about it from others (and even some YouTubers), but I've never bothered to come check it out myself until now.
It's a refreshingly old-style bulletin-board site straight from the 90's!
I just know I'll have a great time here.

A little about me:
I like to program (mostly in Java) and figure out how things work, breaking concepts down piece-by-piece until I understand them, and then I can put all the pieces together to make the big picture, or re-arrange the pieces and make my own picture! (So-to-speak)
I'm currently mainly focused on making my own HTTP web server from scratch, and one of my many side-projects that I currently have going on is setting up a new NTP time server from scratch as well.
I also like to tinker around with phone modems, make desktop programs using Eclipse SWT, make (mostly 2D, some 3D) desktop games, and have even tinkered around with synthesizing audio waveforms by constructing notes, measures, time signatures, and scores!
I end up hyper-focusing on stuff, burning out on it, then hyper-focusing on something else for a while. Sometimes, like with the web server, I'll only hyper-focus on a small part of it, burn out on that, then move on to something else within the same project.
It's a bit unusual, but it works for me!

Traveling for work using a jlesage/firefox instance on VPS.  Everyone needs one of these and NOT pay zscaler an absurd monthly fee.  "See if you can do it better"  Challenge accepted.    At least mine allows my own DoH and my own adblocking extensions.

Sometimes I read teardown reviews for gizmos here, but this time I wanted to give thanks for a firmware solution

Hi everyone, I’m Khanda from China. I currently work in the rental, repair, and calibration of used test and measurement equipment.

I joined this forum hoping to connect with more people in the same field, exchange knowledge and experience, and learn more about radio and RF technology.

Best regards,
Khanda
