Hey!

Names Matthew and i live in Ontario, Canada

I'm not really involved in electronics as a profession, more of a hobby that I'm just getting into...i do a lot of general fabrication on my spare time (welding, forming, repairing, destroying...lol)....i can never have to many tools.... ;D

As for what i do on my non-spare time, i am a full time university student and i moonlight as a computer repair technician for some spending money,

I'm in my last year of Human Biology, and hopefully (and i stress hopefully) ill be in Dental school this coming fall!!

Im working on a current project to build my own power supply from a rather beefy transformer from an old stereo and some rectifiers from a bunch of computer PSU's

thats about it for now!

Hi everyone,

I'm Mike. I live in Perth, Western Australia. I currently work in the IT industry implementing data storage arrays for oil & gas companies. I have had a long-time love of electronics ever since Dad let me take old radios apart as a young lad...

I came across Dave's video blog on the Rigol scopes while looking for a good & economical scope. I watched a few episodes and I was hooked! I like it! Thumbs up!  :)

I have an Arduino that I like to muck around with on occasion. I've built a little MIDI interface to control my synthesiser so far... I am trying to learn about Electronic Engineering in my spare time.

Cheers & keep up the good work Dave!

Hi

Kiriakos  from Volos Greece ,  industrial electrician  ( thats what the paper says )  ;D
plus  20 years repairing  electronics , anything other than televisions ..  ( I hate them )

I had work from time to time , in many local stores ,  representatives of major brands ..

So I can now tell that I had work for  Panasonic  (servicing copiers ) or Zerox as they call them in US , plus fax devices   ..... Ricoh (servicing copiers )  .
My first interest years back was FM transmitters , PLL synthesizers Broadband amps and antennas..
later on worked with CB radios , and lastly with VHF repairs in boats.

Unfortunately the life of some one who works with electronics , its not a stable one ...
You have to convert your self ... or better adjust ... at the needs of its period.

I am very proud for my self , I have as we called " a good name "  as technician in my location,
and have at list the respect, of my customers and friends..

Found the blog , by looking for info about one old analog Metrawatt multimeter,
found the review of the new Metrawatt ...  and I liked a lot the style of the reviewer ...  ;D

Electronics are boring for the most people , but  our dear reviewer , managed to surprise me pleasantly .

I am Greek , speaking English and German , 41 years old ( this May ) .. with all the hairs in my head ,
and blue eyes  ..  :D

Thats it,  nice meeting you ..

Hello, I´m Harald from Austria. Im 39yrs old and im working for a railway company as a telecommunication electronics. My primary job there is to service and maintain the companies own PDH and SDH and DWDM transmission network but I´m doing also any other things related to telecommunications as cable fault location, network troubleshooting and so on.
Since three years I go to an eveningschool of electronics engineering and I hope to complete in two years.
The electronics virus infected me, when I was a child. I disassembled old electronics stuff, unsoldered the parts to get to components (I grew up in a very small town with no electronics store so pulling the components out of old equipment was the only (and cheapest) way to get some working material.)
I have some experience in troubleshooting and building, but less in designing electronic circuits (which is changing at the moment), therefore the eevblog is a must-watch for me.
My other hobbies are (when I have some spare time) reading nearly every book and magazine i can get related to science and technology, Astronomy, Ham Radio (sadly the transceiver collects dust at the moment) and the (permanent) repairing of my old car and my even older house.
The eevblog got my attention, when I googled for the rigol oscilloscope, which i ordered yesterday.

I hope that Daves wife is as tolerant to his hobby as my wife is to mine and that the eevblog keeps going on !

Live long and prosper !

Hi. I'm Shafri from Malaysia. 33yr old Married w 3 children. Was a Mechanical Eng. Student. Worked as Engineer b4 in a consultant firm. just after a year or so, i quit the job and become a mathematic teacher until now and being happy. Doing photography for part time job, and it was photography that brought me here when i saw a guy using arduino to do high speed photography . And it is also the photography income that support the expenses most of all my electronic stuffs. Have been dreaming of building a robotics system since i quit the eng. job, just after about 5yrs, i found a starting point (arduino), too late i think.

What i've found out in Engineering practice is that engineering carrier is totally different from engineering hobby. In engineering carrier, we are told to do eng stuff whether we like it or not. I found out i'm not that type of person, i know that i'm doing engineering of what i want to do, not other people wants me to do. So here i am. Some might think, that my engineering carrier has been buried, they maybe right, but i will continue to do engineering hobby stuffs, no matter what people says.

My motto: Mechanical + Electronics + Programming = Latest Technology  :)

Hello, I'm Dan. Originally from the South of England but I've spent the past couple of years in France.

I have a degree in Product Design and having some knowledge of electronics is very useful for design and also to help with making prototypes, but I mainly do it for fun. I'm also exploring the wonderful world of programming.

Dave's rants about product design are hilarious. I honestly think that 90% of design can be transferred between disciplines. Most of it is common sense couple with careful, methodical thinking.

Hey, I'm Hans from The Netherlands. Currently a young student at University of Applied Sciences , my second of four years in Bachelor Electronics. My interests go into Programming, Electronics and technology (be that in chemistry, mechinical, maths, or something else that's clever). Currently trying to get into hobby Electronics.

I'm my youth I was always interested in Electronics, but 'got distracted' and primarly  went to do website building/programming instead. In the last few years I lost interest in that, and focussed more on C# programming, with now going more towards embedded solutions (in combination with analog electronics).

Hi,

My name is Janne and I come from Finland. I'm studying automation in polytechic, and also work in the same area of industry. Electronics has been a hobby for me now about 10 years, but i do very little with them professionally. Many of my projects are related to my other hobby - windpower, and more specifially building the turbines and control systems around them.

I think I found this blog accidentally when browsing youtube, and most of the time I have liked it. I guess the biggest thing making this so fun is the style how this is represented, versus the usual (boring?) blogging style of electronics topics.

Hello,
My name is Nicholas, I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I stumbled on this neat video blog a while back while looking for Pickit 3 reviews. When I saw Dave's awesome video, I have been hooked ever since. I tend to check back several times a week to see if some new exciting video blog as been added.

I started off like most others when I was a bit younger. Taking things apart, most of which were still of some value to my dad who got pretty angry some times.  :P

I continued on to receive an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology in 2006, then my Bachelors of Science Degree in Communications and Electronic Engineering Technology in 2008. I attempted a Masters Degree in Engineering shortly after the B.S. Degree and gave up half a quarter through. This was mostly because of being put into the second part of a 2 part Advanced Engineering Mathematics course to start off (my math skills are horrid, which isn't the best thing to say in this field).  I may attempt that again some point in the future.

I have a strong interest in micro controllers and have a bit of personal experience with programming them (pics) in the C language.

Hi, my name is Sat and was an electronics minor in college, a long time ago.  I am now a PhD biologist in New York City, NY, USA, but do a lot of electronics at work in keeping measurement systems up to snuf, interfacing to PCs.  I also use a lot of electronics in my technical diving hobby, keeping my gear working and interfacing data collection devices to my PCs.  Diving has few off the shelf devices for all needs, so there is still room for the make it yourself, usually interfacing two devices to work together that were not meant to be.

Hello.

I'm Matthew from Georgia, in the USA.

I work at a construction equipment company that makes excavators, hence the username - excavator EE.

Previous jobs have been with school bus manufacturers, and I've been an electronics technician fixing VCR, Televisions, Telephones, etc.  (that shows how long ago that was - back when people were willing to pay 100 bucks to fix a VCR.)

Right now, my job has changed from true engineering, but as long as they continue to pay me, I'll do what they ask.

I collect Fluke meters, (I have about 150 or so of the things) still try to repair what I can (I've kept my ancient 1987, CRT TV operating for over 15 years since I saved it from the trash bin at the electronic shop) and try to work on my cars.

I've dabbled in computers, tube oscilloscopes, and I've got parts to build a tube amp that I need to get started on.
