Hi! I am Juan Medrano, from Guatemala, a little country in Central America. I have just noticed I never introduced myself here :palm: . I have had the idea to send Dave a postcard, we have beautiful places here too! So in this little country the technological development is still poor, but we are making some steps, we now have something like a mini silicon-valley for software. I am passionate about electronics,  I love it, analog or digital. I hope to write useful posts here, but probably I will be learning much more than posting. Great work Dave, keep the videos going!

Tyler,  I have a Quick-shot soldering iron in my collection but no cartridges.  Would love to have a box of cartridges for it.
Check here and contact me: Flame Heated Soldering Irons

Not sure how US customs would like them but who knows.

Hi everyone!  I've been on here for awhile and I had not found time to introduce myself.  I hail from the upper-Midwest of the United States.  I am currently finishing up my last year of graduate school (RF emphasis) and I am excited to start putting my knowledge to use.  Hopefully my job will let me do that, haha!  I stumbled across Dave via a colleague who liked the AmpHour podcast.  Summed up, Dave really knows his electronics (most of the time that is).  His teardowns and videos in general are top-of-the-line!  I applaud him for doing his best to try and spread the valuable experience he has learned so far!

The reason I am drawn to the eevblog is the focus on hobby electronics.  There is something satisfying about building a circuit or programming a uC to do something completely on its own.  All of my projects are like my children.  It's awesome to see them grow but they really annoy a person when they behave badly.

Been a member for a year, but haven't written much at all. I mostly hang out on a swedish electronics forum. That means I understand swedish. Beacuse I live in Sweden. Not Switzerland. We do not wear leederhosen or featherd hats, and do not joddle in the mouontains.  ;D
I've been into electronics since I was like, I don't know, 10? But really didn't understand the basics until a couple of years later.
However I did know how to get my LEGO motors and stuff running from batteries at kindergarten.  8)
Now I'm 37 and working with fiber optics. The electronics is all hobby. Got my lab in the basement. Eagerly waiting for the inspiration to finish off the electronics for my bench CNC mill. *sigh*

Hello I am Jeramé from the USA.

I have been playing, working with Electronics for the past 30 years.  I am a EE with a strong background in Audio and Video, mainly in sound reinforcement.  I have spent the last 10 years working in the Stepper Motor and Linear Servo World.

I have written many articles on both of these subjects.  I also teach these at our local school.  Feel free to ask me any question you would like.

I am currently working on putting up a web sight showing some of my work.

Have a nice day.

Hello, I'm Axel (not my real name, but it doesn't really matter, just call me Axel)
I'm italian, but I live in Glasgow, Scotland.

I'm a professional mad scientist and as such I enjoy fiddling with electricity and dangerous equipment  >:D

My main job is coding and fixing the Nexus.

I have lots of electronic projects I'm beginning to develop and I would be more than happy to share them here :)

Hello, I'm Jeff.

Did electronics as a kid, simple stuff, power supply, simple amp, multivibrator, rechargeable "power" system for my bike.

I recently got back into electronics, starting with simple projects built around microcontrollers, slowly started putting together a lab/play-room.

Lately I've been all about working with analog electronics and learning as much as I can, building circuits as I learn about them.  I'm a hobbyist, but that doesn't mean I don't want to learn as absolutely much as possible and aim for projects as challenging as possible without skipping important steps.

I'm pushing 40, but since I've picked this up again, I feel like I'm 13 again, that in itself is worth it.

If anyone comes across my posts, have no fear of being critical, as long as it's constructive and you really know what you're doing.  I'm more than happy to be wrong because it means I have a chance to learn something I didn't know.

Cheers,

Jeff

Hey, I'm Martin, age 25, I'm electrician for 5 years.
I started doing electronics since age 12, I found an neon indicator from a broken stove with resistor and played with it. I live in Estonia, the bombhole of eastern europe  :D.
I builded my first project at age 15, it is one transistor flyback HV generator using parts from scrapped TV, project still works and does plasma in burned out bulbs. The current is too low to pop bulbs.
I had my own 2X36W fluorescent light fixture by age 16, first (only) multimeter  :-DMM by age 19.
I don't have an oscilloscope, I looked for it, but problems start to accumulate, so getting it is postponed temporary until the living conditions gets better.
I'm a noob at electronics design, my first audio amplifier project had too many filters and caps. Amp Project
I'm upgrading my skills, so any constructive critisism/suggestions are welcome.

Hello everyone, my name is Darko, I'm 18 and I'm from Serbia. I'm currently in high school, course mechatronics, and I intend to go to university also mechatronics.

I've stumbled upon one of Dave's videos, and I really liked it, been watching them for a while but only recently registered to the forum. Like every beginner I'll try to help out a little that I can, but I'll mostly learn from this forum. So thanks everyone, this is a wonderful place for any EE's and hobbyists. looking forward to learn new things.

Hello from NC. I'm just about done with my Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering at my local community college. I'm also involved in a work-study there as a teachers assistant to my program director. I've been a casual viewer of the YouTube channel for about a year now, and I figured I would join the forum community.

I am currently in the process of building a FIRST style robot for our lab. The goal is to keep the design modular enough for use in multiple classes and labs.

See you around!

My name is Phil
I started in the US air force in 77 working on radar for the F4 Phantom, got my 2yr degree, got my FCC class 1 and did microwave communications, instrument calibration and then ended up at a small college in NY where I have repaired and calibrated measurement equipment for the past 23 years. I found this blog and it put some fun back into the rather tedious life of calibration. The curse of keeping stuff working is that I rarely see much current test equipment due to the robust stuff from the 80's and 90's still kicking. Very interesting discussions on the blog and good to see novices are treated so well.

Hello everyone, I have been watching the videos on YouTube for some time and have decided it would be a good idea to join the forum. I am interested in electronics as a lay person and have done simple repairs to a variety of things. I admin a automotive forum devoted to the KIA Soul and I moderate a second on the same vehicle. I love to collect old computers and cell phones. And my favorite color is red. Hrmm.... Not sure what else is needed but if you have any questions for me then fire away!

Hey everyone,

My name is Dakota, I'm 16 and just getting into hobby electronics as a regular thing. I currently sell and repair cell phones to be able to fund projects and buy tools (And of course save for university).

So about a year ago when I started soldering (Using a Metcal at work), I have to say my technique was absolute crap., watching David's videos really helped.

Anyways cheers,
Dakota

Oops, somehow I missed this thread and I just posted in introduction in the General Chat :P

It's this thread: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/new-here!/

Perhaps the mods could move that post in here? Not sure what abilities they have over here.

Anyway, hello everyone!

Matt,

P.S. Is the verification for every post going to always be there, or is it just for new members?

Well I'm from Ireland and started off in the 90's after completing two and a half years of EE. First job was as a repair technician fixing up old valve radios in a shop called Clifford's Radio here in Dublin. I'm currently teaching electronics in several open community based programs.

Always eager to learn more and the discovery of EEVBlog was amazing.

Howdy,

I'm Phil from Southeast Louisiana. I work as Network Administrator for the local phone co./ISP. General purpose tinkerer/hack :)

Started out with battery operated electrics at a young age, introduced to computers at age 8 at the college my dad was lecturing at (Sinclair ZX81, incidentally now own that very computer), started to understand electronics at around the same age with a Tandy 50-in-1 kit, various other oddments, then on to Sinclair Spectrum territory, BBC B at school, onward and upward.
Wife says I own too many 'scopes (4). I have a Tektronix 585a back in the UK because it was too big and heavy to ship; a little Beckman Industrial that I bought here out of necessity, and now a Tektronix 464 and HP 1741A which came at the best price of free from work, written off by the accounting department.

Aside from tinkering with electronics, I enjoy working with my Arduino, absolutely love working with my cars. One of my cars comes from an era of microcomputers that I can understand (1987), tinkering with the fuel/spark computer on that keeps me busy.

Was pointed at EEVblog by a friend of mine after I started to ramble on about calibrating my 464...

Nice to meet y'all!

--Phil

Hi, y'all!  I'm John from SE Texas and I'm 50, my favorite color is blue and I like to take long walks on the beach.  ;)

I grew up playing with electronics. My dad is an EE and us kids always had access to a soldering iron, a meter, and cigar boxes full of parts. I was soldering before I could write my name. I took some electronics classes in high school and college, but ended up graduating with a BS in Environmental Management.  I manage hazardous waste cleanup sites, and my background in electronics has helped me with a lot of electrical related problems at work.

Lately I've been building guitar effects. I couldn't afford these when i was a kid growing up in the 70's and didn't even think about building them. The information wasn't as ubiquitous as it is today and there was no Internet. I get most of my information and help over at diystompboxes.com (I hope it's ok to say that. I don't want to spam, and i have no interest in that site other than I really like it).

So I registered here mainly to help round out my knowledge of electronics. I look forward to checking out the site.
